Romance at The McCharles House and Gardens

Vintage glamor and Victoriana abound at the lovely McCharles House and Gardens in Tustin. This is the perfect venue for an intimate and Romantic Garden Wedding. Last weekend was finally wedding day for our gorgeous couple, Toni and Scot. I asked their Sales Coordinator Alayne what impressed her most about this incredible couple….“From the first time I met Toni I thought what a stunning young woman she is and that she has such a pure joy that just radiates from her, making her even more beautiful. Scot has a great sense of humor and he is so attentive to Toni and is head over heels in love with her. They are a lovely couple, both inside and out.”

The guest book table included sheets for guests to create a scrapbook page. A decorated willow tree was placed at the entry of the garden for guests to leave special messages and blessings.

Toni loves the colors of eggplant and green.  She was looking for a refined botanical look with a hint of Victorian.  She also loves all of the colors in peacock feathers. Sussanna with French Buckets combined the exotic feel of the peacock feathers and the curiosity of a botanical specimen finished with satin ribbon. Toni’s bouquet combined cobra lilies, cymbidium orchids, sunflower centers, dahlias, eggplant calla lilies, monkey tail…. (she mentioned she loves those little things that swirl around), spider mums, hanging amaranthus, all wrapped up with a French style wrap.  The locket is a family heirloom that belonged to her Grandmother and was attached for blessings and love.

Beautiful, elegant, graceful… I could go on and on about Toni. She took my breath away. Probably one of the most gorgeous brides I have ever seen. Oh, and she is just as beautiful inside. Family is very important to her and Scot, and as you can see there were a lot of little ones in attendance. Wedding pictures of Parents and Grandparents were placed on the antique mantle for guests to enjoy. I loved viewing the many generations and styles.

I happened upon this very tender moment before the ceremony, where Toni took a quiet moment to pray in a tiny hallway. Her bridesmaids then joined her, grasped hands and prayed.

Pomanders (The green flower balls the little girls are holding) are one of my favorite things. Especially with green Button Mums and eggplant colored ribbon. The cake, from Rossmoor Pastries, was alternating flavors of Chocolate (top and bottom tier) and Vanilla (middle tier)with Dulce de Leche Filling; Ivory Icing; Bella Principessa Design Scrolling with Purple Accents and Olive Ribbon. Fresh Flowers of cascading eggplant calla lilies, green cymbidiums, burgundy dahlias and crowned with cobra lilies and monkey tail, from Sussanna with French Buckets. The following picture is so entertaining to me. The guests were quite the “Paparazzi”.

Tables were decorated with assorted blooms, fresh green apples, deep red grapes, and white lanterns. Favors for the guests included beautifully decorated candy apples (a new trend I adore).

Crabcakes with Mango and Papaya Salsa and Radicchio Wraps were tray passed in the front courtyard during a cocktail hour. The Sequoia Lodge displayed the buffet of Chicken Florentine with Roasted Red Bell Pepper Sauce, Tortellini with Creamy Pesto Sauce, Rosemary & Garlic Roasted New Potatoes, Grilled Marinated Vegetables, Wild Cherry Salad with Sesame Soy Vinaigrette, and fresh baked Dinner Rolls.

As guests left they were treated to warm chocolate chip cookies and cold milk shots. Definitely a lasting memory of family warmth and hospitality. We were honored to be a part of the celebration of this new family. Congratulations Toni and Scot.
