National Doughnut Day

It’s National Doughnut Day!! Established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to raise much-needed funds during the Great Depression, and to honor the Salvation Army “Lassies” of WWI, it is observed on the first Friday in June.

Although we don’t make doughnuts, we make a pretty mean beignet. Sprinkled with sugar and a lovely dipping sauce… DIVINE!

So, if I have you craving doughnuts now, head on over to Krispy Kreme for your free doughnut. That’s right, in celebration of this national holiday that is near and dear to their heart, they are giving away free doughnuts all day in any flavor. Enjoy!

Pie Pops

I started the week with gorgeous pies and thought I would finish with cute mini pies. I really think this is “the big deal” this year. Rarely do I find someone that doesn’t like pie. Flaky, salty, crust, filled with sweet fruit. Make it a mini and put it on a stick… I’m in love. Our Pie Pops are the perfect treat for weddings, birthday parties, and showers. They can easily be wrapped in a cello bag, tied with a ribbon and tag, and given as a favor. Such a SWEET , down-home reminder of the celebration.

A French Inspired Table with French Desserts

Some of our fabulous French Desserts, Pastries, and Signature Cocktail Kir Noir, are featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs today. It was so much fun working with Desiree Patterson of Social Creative as her vision came to life. She pulled together a fantastic team to create this elegant French table at The Grand Del Mar. Who wouldn’t want to sit in a beautiful room, at a gorgeous table, and eat pastries and drink cocktails? Check out the full post HERE. Luscious Mini Pies

Pie or cake… hands down I will always choose pie. I was sad to miss the Ultimate Hoedown, BBQ Throwdown Birthday festivities for Utterly Engaged the other night. However, we sent these cute little pies to entertain the guests. Why is it everything is so cute MINI? From everything I have heard, the party was a huge success. Congratulations Utterly Engaged on a truly inspiring year. Looking forward to many more.

Bastille Day Croissants

Americans have The Fourth of July; the French have Bastille Day. On July 14, 1789, an outraged group of Parisians stormed the Bastille, a fortress and prison in France where prisoners of influence were held. Shortly thereafter, King Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette took refuge in Versailles as the violent peasants pillaged and burned châteaux. For the peasant class, the Bastille stood as a symbol of the hypocrisy and corruption of the aristocratic government – controlled mostly by nobility and clergy. This important event marked the entry of the popular class into the French Revolution.

In celebration of my families French heritage (the peasant class), I am loading up some mini chocolate croissants and heading out to some of my favorite venues. This will be my little version of storming the Bastille. The champagne dressed with lavender will mark my success at the end of the day. CHEERS!
