Jay’s Catering is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented CFO for our growing Catering Business. Jay’s Catering is a Family Owned Business that has served the Orange County and Los Angeles areas as the top caterer for 50 years. The Jay’s Catering family has recently expanded to include two exclusive venues (The Estate on Second and Hangar 21) plus two café locations, Ellie’s Table Egan House and Ellie’s Table North Beach, in the South Orange County area.

POSITION SUMMARY

The CFO will work closely with the CEO and Executive Management team to help develop and execute the corporate strategy throughout Jay’s Catering and Ellie’s Table. They will also participate in developing new business, specifically assist the President and Management team in drafting prospective budgets and determining cost effectiveness of current business. They will manage, negotiate, and implement all company contracts and work with the Management team to ensure contract compliance. The CFO coordinates financial planning, debt financing and budget management and evaluates financial performance. The CFO also works closely with all managers and helps them better understand their financial responsibilities, seeks improvements in operational processes and guides the company towards long-term financial success. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, hands-on, strategic thinker with solid communication and management skills, strong technical skills and advanced problem-solving skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial:

  • Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the business’ needs
  • Project financial results in the future ensuring that owners are aware of financial issues well in advance of their occurrence
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against the budget
  • Oversee and manage the financial reporting to the bank and owners
  • Lead, manage, and train the accounting department and other staff on raising awareness and knowledge of financial management matters
  • Develop the operational budget and work with Management team to ensure compliance

Accounting

  • Maintain a system of internal controls with appropriate segregation of duties to safeguard financial assets and oversee relationship with outside vendors.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results to CEO, Management Team, and owners
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and ensure daily activities occur and back up plans are implemented as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws in regard to tax and accounting related issues and maintain relationship with outside Accounting/Tax firm
  • Oversee all payroll activities

Human Resources

  • Provide direction and leadership to the HR team
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and timely calculations of wage incentives, commissions, and salaries for the staff
  • Investigate cost-effective benefit plans and other fringe benefits which the Company may offer employees and potential employees with the goal of attracting and retaining qualified individuals
  • Oversee business insurance plans, 401 (k) plans and health coverage analysis
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws in regard to Human Resources and maintain relationship with outside HR focused legal counsel

Qualifications and Skills

  • BS degree in Finance and/or Accounting
  • 5-7+ years in progressively responsible financial positions with at least 5+ years in a supervisory role, incorporating the following:
  • Experience with short term and long-term budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience with expense control
  • Experience working with functional managers throughout an organization
  • Business and financial analysis
  • Reporting (income statement and cash flow analysis)
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills (large amount of interaction with upper management) required
  • Ability to execute tasks in a thorough manner
  • Prior experience in the Hospitality, Restaurant industry a plus
  • Software Skills: Advanced skills in all Microsoft Office programs, exceptional Excel skills is a must, preferred familiarity with financial planning tools, knowledge and experience with MAS 90/Sage 100 Accounting software

Part & Full-Time Drivers

$14.00 an Hour + Tips

Required Qualifications

·       Must be a safe, conscientious driver who is capable of driving a large company van

·       DMV Certified

·       Must enjoy interacting with the public, as you will not only be driving food to people, but delivering it to them as well

·       Must be able and willing to provide outstanding, friendly customer service

·       Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., as you will be setting up events from time to time

·       Must be available to work weekends

Desired Skills

·       Previous experience as a Driver and/or Food Deliverer is preferred

·       We want enthusiastic, motivated Drivers who consistently provide our customers with exceptional & professional service

·       An excellent sense of direction and knowledge of major freeways in Orange County is very helpful to this position
