In the late 70s, the Norris Center for Performing Arts was built to meet the needs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula community. The structure was intended to be a performing arts theatre that would double as a space for community events. The 450-seat theatre hosted musicals, variety shows, outreach programs, education classes and much more. Although the building was well received and fulfilled many of the community’s wishes, there was still more to be done. So in 1990, the Harlyne J. Norris Pavilion was constructed to house business offices, classrooms, a dance studio, a scene shop, a catering kitchen and a spacious multi-purpose room. The Norris Center has continued to serve the community and the Pavilion has become a desirable venue for special events.
The Norris Pavilion is an ideal space for grand receptions and intimate weddings. While large guest lists can often limit a couple’s options for venues to hotels or country clubs, the Pavilion provides a spectacular, personal alternative. When entering the event grounds, guests are greeted by flowering trees and a gorgeous, circular fountain. The glass entryway leads into a spacious lobby with high ceilings, skylights and a granite, wet bar. Double doors open into the expansive ballroom flanked with cherry wood walls and elegant chandeliers. Outside, the West terrace holds a serene patio surrounded by greenery and stretching columns. This intimate, charming environment is wonderful for small ceremonies or an outdoor, guest lounge area.
Besides the beauty of this venue, one of its best traits is its ability to adapt according to each specific event. Event supervisors are all about tailoring the look and details of each occasion to their client’s vision. Custom lighting and sound amenities can add that dramatic touch, while personal design and décor make the day a memorable affair.
Whether you’re hosting a gala dinner or an intimate gathering of family + friends, the Norris Center will deliver the most fitting atmosphere for your event.
