Renovation Progress: The Estate on Second
Last fall, we decided to purchase a gorgeous, historic building in downtown Santa Ana with the intent of opening our own exclusive venue. With the most ideal bare bones a structure could have, this location was everything we could hope for in an event space. Even still, we knew it was going to take a lot of hard work, time, and thoughtful design to create a venue that lives up to its grand name: The Estate on Second. We wanted to create an elegant and glamorous space that remained true to its colonial roots. So we planned to maintain the integrity and spirit of this rich building, while updating the features that had undergone much wear over the years. We’ve since painted the stunning exposed beam ceiling a crisp white to lighten up the room, and wrapped the columns in a more sophisticated style with molding and bead board accents. In addition, we’ve spruced up the grand staircases with new railings, made a nesting DJ platform that overlooks the main space, and built a sweet bridal suite. After months of construction and structural renovations, we are thrilled that we are still on schedule to open our doors summer of 2015. In fact, our very first wedding at The Estate will be taking place this July. Although we have much more to accomplish, the most exciting part is just underway. Now comes the décor and furniture. We want to cultivate a tasteful environment that is the perfect mixture of luxurious and modern elements. Many of our prints and styles are inspired by the Victorian period, which was characterized by classy decor and a stunning sophistication. The main hall, known as The Crystal Room, will feature spectacular crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Some walls will be covered in a textured damask print, while the floors will be dressed in reclaimed wood and an unconventional, patterned tile. Our bar, an essential to any event space, is taking shape and we’ve also purchased a gorgeous, velvet-tufted chaise as a statement furniture piece. As for the patio, aptly named The Veranda, construction has begun. This lovely outdoor space will include real gas lanterns, a fire pit for guests to keep warm outsides, and a serene water feature. We absolutely love how all of the designs, renovations, and details are coming together at The Estate. Stay tuned for more updates; we can’t wait to invite you into our home.
A Space for Collaboration
With the grand opening of our new venue-The Estate on Second- just around the corner, we are excited that so many vendors are showing interest in our space. We love getting to collaborate with other businesses to make our events the best that they can be. Recently, we’ve been hearing a lot from photographers who want to use The Estate in their work. One talented woman in particular is Lani Ohye. She loves her craft because she is moved by the moments that photography captures and enjoys the candid shots that save a piece of time from getting lost forever. Lani recently visited The Estate on Second and shared some of her best shots with us. A special thanks goes out to Lani Ohye Photography for the beautiful photographs. She is just one example of the creative and inspiring people that we get to work with day to day. Once The Estate on Second is ready to open its doors, we will be sharing many more pictures of the memories that take place inside. We can’t wait to work with Lani again and collaborate with other photographers in the future!

Mark + Leah, The Loft on Pine
Spring is at its fullest, which means were drawn to lively celebrations that have lovely pops of color. Mark + Leah’s wedding featured gorgeous hues of deep magenta & soft pink that brightened their event space and matched the enthusiasm of their family & friends. A traditional church ceremony was held at St. Marina’s before the party headed to The Loft On Pine for the rest of the evening. The happy couple asked Jay’s to celebrate with them by catering their big day. Our event specialist, Nickie Good, helped the pair plan the details of the event to make sure everything ran smoothly. At the ceremony in St. Marina’s, guests anticipated the arrival of the beautiful bride. Leah wore a stunning lace and beaded gown with a long veil draped behind her. Mark went with a classic look in a slick black suit combined with a white tie. His boutonniere complimented Leah’s bouquet with matching pink roses. The main décor was left to the responsibility of the church’s natural beauty with stained glass windows lining the walls. A few arrangements were placed along the alter to tie in the wedding’s atmosphere. After the traditional ceremony, friends and family migrated to The Loft On Pine for a contemporary ceremony, and the rest of the evening's festivities. Cocktail hour kicked off with Jay’s hors d’oeuvres, including Filet & Wild Mushroom Wellington, Lemon Parmesan Artichoke Hearts, and Thai Shrimp Spring Rolls. Jay’s also provided a bar with champagne & cider flutes to toast, and a selection of beers, wine, and soda. The reception took place under the whimsical, wood-paneled ceiling at The Loft On Pine. This vast arching ceiling is just one aspect that makes the venue so special. For dinner, we served our delicious Santorini Chicken and Vegetarian Rotolo Bolzano along with our Grilled Marinated Vegetables, Pear & Walnut Salad, and Garlic Mashed Potatoes. And for a fun dessert, the couple chose our Cookies & Milk Shots to pass around to guests. Mark + Leah danced the rest of the night away with their family and friends, the perfect ending to a great day. Congratulations to the happy couple and thank you to Matthew Morgan Photography for capturing all of the memories!
A Moroccan Bride Shoot with Stephanie Williams
It was our pleasure once again to take part in a styled photo shoot with the fantastically creative photographer, Stephanie Williams. This time around the inspiration concept was an eclectic, yet glamorous Moroccan style wedding. The bride was featured in three exclusive dresses from the Gothic Angel collection by Claire Pettibone. Each gown incorporated delicate lace details and kept to the color palette of white and gold. To enhance the look, KC Witkamp applied a light layer of elegant makeup to highlight the bride’s natural beauty. Witkamp also styled her hair to have soft, wind-swept curls beneath intricate gold headpieces to showcase an effortless and chic style. A combination of succulents, wax, and other foliage was arranged by Velvetleaf Studio to add some greenery to the shoot’s desert-like atmosphere. Ornate chairs, baskets, and vases along with other decorative accents were added by Archive Rentals and Found Vintage Rentals. All of these pieces meshed together wonderfully to make this Moroccan theme come alive. All of the lovely sandy brown and cream paper goods used for the table numbers and other stationary were products of Copper Willow Paper Studio. For dessert, we integrated the color themes of the shoot by serving up a plate of tan macrons with hints of gold and a two-tiered cake. The cake was iced with white frosting that imitated the look of lace and a crown of gold poured over the top tier. Succulents were placed at the top and the base of the cake with painted gold tips to accentuate the overall look.We are thrilled that we were able to participate in this gorgeous shoot. Seeing the entire collaboration come together was an absolute dream. A special thank you to Stephanie Williams for including us in this enjoyable experience and also Be Inspired PR for all of their contributions. We can’t wait for the next time we all get to work together!
"Taste of Jay's" at Giracci Vineyards & Farms
Spring is in the air and another “Taste of Jay’s” has come around. This time we held our tasting party at the scenic Giracci Vineyards and Farms. As one of our featured venue partners, Giracci was the perfect place to have a beautiful outdoor get together with some of our future brides, grooms, and their families. We prepared a special selection of our menu items to give our guests a “taste” of their prospective reception offerings. Debbie Mastrioanni headed the event to ensure all the details came together and that guests were enjoying the evening. Here’s a video recap of this “Taste of Jay’s” below:
A handful of talented vendors joined us at Giracci to give the reception a more complete setting. We blended each of our expertise to create one lovely atmosphere. Amy Beck from All in the Detail Design, Joanna Tutwiler from Queen Tut Events, Debbie Mastrioanni, and Lindsay Wiggins from Bliss Productions Event Planning and Styling were our wonderful wedding planners and designers who organized the appearance of the affair. Theresa John from Sundrop Vintage provided amazing, signature pieces for the evening’s decor. Foxtail Florals created all the gorgeous natural accents and bloom arrangements. The evening was guided by the sounds of Simply Elegant Music’s Moonlight Jazz Quartet with Norm Luckett. Guests we able to capture memorable moments in the Todd Herod’s Social Shutterbooth. The entire event was a wonderful showcase of all our vendor collaborators. We set up the floor plan to guide our guests around three distinct areas, each highlighting a specific group of food stations and design styles. To compliment our fare, Giracci served their own wine at each of the station destinations. Moving onto the Oaktree Courtyard a variety of stations were waiting. The Chicken Entrée Station included Zucchini Lime Chicken with Lime Chardonnay Sauce, Chicken Veronique with Champagne Cream Sauce, and Cabernet Chicken with Cabernet Reduction. There was also a Tuscan Bruschetta Bar that presented a Jay’s take on the timeless spread. The final station in the courtyard was the Pasta Station that provided a variety of delectable options from traditional Italian pastas to our beloved Panko Crusted Mac & Cheese. After guests enjoyed their first round of tasters, it was time to move onto the Gazebo Area. This section included the Slider Station, the Tuscan Flatbread Station and the Off-The-Grill Station. The last location in this area was a Paella Station made traditionally with Spanish Chorizo, Andouille Sausage, & Chicken in a large Paella Pan. A Sangria Station was positioned nearby to offer an array of sweet libations. The third and final location was the New Barn. Our very own Ellie’s Table had a station featuring their Kouign Amann with Crème Brulee Filling. Nearby, Giracci Vineyards held a Port Station with their Gian. The Dessert Station was piled high with a classic selection of French Macarons, Vanilla Chocolate Cream Puffs, Fresh Fruit Tarts, Chocolate Raspberry Decadence, Chocolate Delight Cupcakes, Espresso Italiano Tiramisu Cupcakes, Strawberry Shortcake Cupcakes, Coconut Island Cupcakes, and Mixed Berry Crostatas. We’d like to thank everyone who joined us for this “Taste of Jays” events and all the vendors who collaborated with us. Special thank yous go out to Debbie Mastrioanni for her wonderful work on this event and Morgan Hydinger for sharing her stunning photos. We hope to see the rest of you at the next “Taste of Jays” in the coming months!
