Megan + Matt, Giracci Vineyards and Farms
The most meaningful events in someone’s life should be shared with family and friends, which is exactly why Matt + Megan surrounded themselves with loved one’s on their wedding day at Giracci Vineyards. The secluded farm venue was the perfect environment to make memories that will last a lifetime. Our Event Specialist, Nickie Good, guided this exciting day alongside the talented Amy Beck of All in the Detail Design to make sure everything went as planned. Getting ready, Megan and her bridal party started out the festivities wearing matching floral robes that perfectly tied in to the color scheme of the wedding flowers. Matt and his groomsmen didn’t have matching robes, but had an equally good time getting ready for the main event. Before the ceremony, Matt + Megan shared a beautiful first prayer together, holding hands around a tree to make sure they didn’t see each other until Megan was walking down the aisle.
The ceremony was heart-felt and filled with laughter. The pops of coral and other warm accents gave the scene a bright and romantic feel, perfectly fitting the spirit of the wedding. Loved ones watched as the couple exchanged their vows and committed themselves to a life together. Congratulatory embraces and cheers echoed throughout the vineyard after the ceremony. Next up was the cocktail hour, where guests signed an old, preserved tree trunk and grabbed a drink for the toasts to come. Giracci Red Wine was enjoyed along with Jay’s tray passed hors d’oeuvres that included our Italian Green Beans with Pancetta and Sliced Tomatoes with Buffalo Mozzarella. After mingling for a little while, everyone found their seats and anxiously anticipated the grand entrance of the newlyweds. Matt + Megan couldn’t have looked more in love while they navigated the dance floor for their first dance as man and wife. With all the fun and dancing, it was easy to work up and appetite. Jay’s served up a delicious spread featuring Fontina Cheese, Caramelized Onion, Sundried Tomato & Pancetta Flatbread Pizzas, Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms, Chicken Rigatoni with Creamy Marinara, Vegetarian Rotolo Bolzano, and Filet Mignon Carvery. Once everyone was settled and their stomachs were full, attention turned to the microphone for a line of fun-loving speeches and toasts. The reception was filled with contagious laughter and pure happiness. Before long it was time to cut the cake. Jay’s created a 2 Tier Round Marble Cake with Chocolate Bavarian Filling and Buttercream Icing. For those that wanted a different kind of sweet treat, Jay’s also set up a Classic Dessert Station with French Macarons, Chocolate Dipped Cream Puffs, Mini Coconut Capped White Bavarian Cupcakes, Chocolate Florentines, French Fruit Tarts, and Dessert Shots. As the celebration came to an end, family and friends gave the couple final congratulations. We’d like to thank Lauren Belknap Photography for all of the lovely photos and captured moments. Cheers to Matt + Megan and the wonderful future they have ahead!
The Estate's Big Easy
A few weeks ago, we announced the opening of The Estate on Second. Of course we couldn’t begin hosting without throwing ourselves a Grand Opening celebration to kick off all the amazing events to come. So we gathered up our industry friends and invited them to The Big Easy, a New Orleans inspired bash fit with entertainment, vendor highlights, tasty food & drinks, live music and more. Our team worked alongside the incredible planning talents of Green Apple Events Co., the always lovely Foxtail Florals. for arrangement and detail design, and Found Vintage Rentals for curated furniture that fit the event’s atmosphere perfectly. After months of planning, construction, and designing, we couldn’t wait to show off The Estate in all its renovated glory. Guests entered through the font door and were immediately welcomed by gorgeous chandeliers above, confetti covered floors, the scent of southern comfort, and beautiful vintage seating areas provided by Found Vintage Rentals. Ted Z and the Wranglers played their country-rock sound as guests mingled and snacked on our tray-passed hors d’oeuvres. All of the evening’s fare incorporated tangy cajun flavors and bold ingredients reminiscent of New Orlean’s rich culture. To start, we offered Grilled Jumbo Shrimp & Jambalaya Martinis with Andouille Sausage and Lo Country Crab Bisque Shooters with Crème Fraiche. On the first floor, we served up a selection of various beers and wines at the bar. Stations were set up around the room with delicious dishes. We served up hand-carved Skirt Steak Étouffée Sliders with Fontina Cheese Sauce, Creole Sauce, Tobacco Onions, and an array of hot sauces for an extra kick. For the spicy lovers, our Gumbo Station included Smoked Chicken Gumbo, Seafood Gumbo, White Rice, and Red Beans. At each station, guests could dress up the dishes to their liking with assorted toppings and fix-ins.Tables were scattered around the venue and dressed beautifully in Luxe Linens. Foxtail Florals added gorgeous pops of color with florals to each of the rooms and displays. Draped greenery and botanicals complimented the gold decor accents to create a vibrant, yet sophisticated feel. To complete the charm, antique bottles, old-fashioned trophies, marquees, and and large, intricate rugs dressed up the elegant, bare bones of the structure. Hand lettered signs created by Nicole Solis marked each of the stations to add a whimsical touch. Guests grabbed fun props and costumes to get their picture taken in the photo booth by MYphotoboothLA. While the dancing and conversation ensued below, others gathered on The Terrace turned Cigar Lounge to sip on our Signature Mint Julep and Raspberry Rickey Cocktails. Inside, The Attic was filled with a sweet selection of desserts created by Chef Christophe, our Executive Pastry Chef. Guests could lounge in wingback leather chairs and choose from our Ellie’s Table's Camelized Mini Kouign-Amann, Fresh Peaches and Bourbon Cream Tart, Flambé Banana Foster with Dark Rum Sabayon Cream and Praline Crunch Dessert Shot, and our Chocolate Decadence with Chicory Cream Topped with Caramelized Cacao Nibs. We could not have imagined a better way to share our venue. Thank you to Steve Burdick Events for providing the DJ & Lighting and to Chard Photographer for sharing these stunning photos of the event. All our partnering vendors made The Big Easy so special and we can’t wait to collaborate on more events in the future. Until our next extravaganza!
Ellie's Table Egan House: A Taste of Something New
Over the years, Ellie’s Table At North Beach has become a local gathering place for the cozy community of San Clemente. Noticing the positive influence of this hometown feel and what it can provide for a neighborhood, we have decided to open another Ellie’s Table location a short drive up the road in San Juan Capistrano’s historical Egan House early 2016.Already emanating with a feeling of nostalgia, The Egan House is the ideal location for Ellie’s next café. We see this building as a local icon that will bring the community together and give everyone a chance to share in its rich history. On top of everything else, it will be a great excuse to meet up with old friends and share stories while enjoying a delicious meal. Our European style approach to classic pastries and a selection of savory dishes will bring a bit of our own culture into the vibrant community. Just like the original Ellie’s, this new location will offer customer favorites like the Kouign Amann, Breakfast Burritos, Jay’s famous Palm Sandwiches, as well as other well-known breakfast, lunch, and bakery selections. This announcement is just the beginning of a wonderful collaboration between Ellie’s Table and The Egan House. We strive to preserve the historical integrity of the building, while bringing about a taste of something new. We love the welcoming atmosphere that defines SJC and can’t wait to meet the people of this charming town. Keep on the lookout for progress updates throughout the coming months! Ellie’s Table At The Egan House will be one for the books.
Connor + Colby, The Casino San Clemente
With the heat waves of summer, there’s nothing better than a wedding right near the beach. Thankfully The Casino San Clemente is located right next to the shore and was the perfect spot for Connor + Colby’s special day. Placed in the helpful hands of our Event Specialist, April Chaim, and their amazing wedding planner, Arielle Azoff of LVL, the two lovebirds were beaming with pure joy knowing that this day marks the official start of their life together. Getting ready for the ceremony, Colby celebrated with her bridal party by sharing in a toast and some colorful macrons. After Connor + Colby were both dressed in their tux and gown, each of them took a private pause to read a letter that they had prepared for each other.
The ceremony took place outside in the Rock Garden with perfect weather overhead, making the day even more magical. The entire scene had a classic appeal to it as all of the wedding party wore black and white. Soft pinks and greenery were worked into flower accents to give some colorful pops to the romantic atmosphere. Once Connor + Colby exchanged their vows and shared their first kiss as man and wife, everyone was filled with excitement as the next part of the celebration ensued. Cocktail hour was hosted on the lovely Patio of the Stars. Family and friends mingled and enjoyed Jay’s tray passed hors d’oeuvres including our Filet & Wild Mushroom Wellington with Bearnaise Sauce and Fig, Goat Cheese & Mascarpone Tarts. A bar station was set up for serving various cocktails and the couple’s two Signature Drinks: The Blushing Bride made with Cranberry Juice, Peach Schnapps, and Vodka, and The Grinning Groom concocted with Orange Juice, Peach Schnapps, and Spiced Rum. For the reception, all of the guests migrated into the Grand Ballroom. With a high arching ceiling and a large dance floor, it was a setting ready for a night of fun and dancing. Jay’s served up an array of delicious dishes to treat the appetites of each guest. The main courses included Vegetarian Rotolo Bolzano, Quinoa Ratatouille stuffed Portobello Mushroom with Roasted Pepper Coulis, Zucchini Lime Chicken, and Filet of Beef. Since there is always room for dessert, Jay’s also crafted sweet treats for guests to enjoy. The delicately ruffled wedding cake was made with a Red Velvet Cake topped Cream Cheese and Buttercream Icing. Accompanying the main cake was a selection of Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese filling and Buttercream Icing as well as Marble Cupcakes with Chocolate Bavarian filling and Buttercream Icing. Every sweet tooth was accounted for after this spread of cake-filled goodness. By the end of the night, everyone had experienced their fill of food and fun. Thank you Chard Photographer for capturing all of the special moments of this beautiful wedding day. And congratulations to the newlyweds, Connor + Colby! We wish you a very happy life together full of love and adventure.
The Estate's Week of Firsts
The wait is finally over! After months of renovations, we are very excited to announce that The Estate on Second is now open for business. This grand opening of our very first event space welcomes a fun-filled week of other firsts that are each a big deal in their own way. When the decision came to open our first company owned venue in Jay’s history, we all immediately fell in love with the rich historical feel of downtown Santa Ana where The Estate is located. The building has deep roots in the neighborhood’s culture as it used to belong to the Southern Counties Gas Company. Although many other business have come and gone from this ageless spot, The Estate is ready to flourish and take its place in the history of this community. As our doors are now officially open, we also launched The Estate’s brand new website. Stylized to reflect the venue’s overall atmosphere, this detailed site showcases everything you need to know about The Estate from room options and amenities to contact information and preferred vendors. It’s a great place for people to explore what The Estate has to offer before taking an actual tour of the grounds. We are so proud of how the site turned out and we can’t wait for you to take a look!
Also on the list of noteworthy milestones is The Estate’s first wedding! The big day was a success and we couldn’t have been more thrilled with the lovely couple that walked down the aisle. With weddings being one of the main types of events that The Estate will host, we feel as though this celebration of love was the perfect kickoff to our finished space. We’d like to thank everyone for their support and enthusiasm leading up to this big week of firsts! We look forward to creating and sharing many memories at The Estate on Second. Cheers to what the future holds!
July Taste of Jay's, The Casino San Clemente
Located right on the coast of a beautiful Southern California beach community sits The Casino San Clemente, the host venue of our latest Taste of Jays. Every few months we put together these gatherings so that future brides, grooms, and their families can sample a bit of what we do. We collaborate with other vendors to put on a full reception production showing examples of everything from flower arrangement and place setting inspiration to possible seating areas and entertainment. A lovely group of event planners and designers including Amy Beck from All in the Detail Design, Joanna Tutwiler from Queen Tut Event & Design, Lindsay Wiggins from Bliss Productions, and our very own Debbie Mastrioanni made each area look stunning. With The Casino San Clemente being one of our venue partners, it was the perfect representation of what one of our catered events can look like in this versatile space. After checking in at the front, guests walked straight into our first tasting area that featured three mouth-watering stations. Piled high with delicious ingredients was the Tuscan Bruschetta Bar where guests had the chance to top freshly grilled Rosemary Olive & Ciabatta Crostinis with different combinations of fresh vegetable creations and spreads. Foxtail Florals supplied the beautifully rustic floral arrangements that brought unique splashes of life to various sections of the event.
From there they could stop by the Paella station to try a Jays’ take on the classic Spanish dish and also enjoy some satisfying Sangria. For more refreshment options, a Wine & Champagne Bar was set up around the corner for guests to try a glass or two of some fine wines. Venturing inside the Grand Ballroom, more tempting aromas were waiting to greet curious palates. Live music from The Decades Band entertained eardrums while the Action Pasta Station, Chicken Entrée Station, Tri Tip Carvery, and Mashed Potato & Mac ’N Cheese Station took care of each tastebud in the room. Displayed in the very center of the ballroom was an elegant example of table design. The polished presentation was set up with vintage furniture and complimenting florals beside carefully selected table settings. We have Sundrop Vintage to thank for this intricate vision and also for all of the other beautiful accents, including rentals and florals, that they contributed to the rest of the event. The excitement continued outside in the Rock Garden with more stations ready to be explored. The Slider Station, Taco Bar, and Tuscan Flat Breads took over this outdoor section and turned it into a finger food destination. The finishing touch in this area was the Craft Margarita Bar. This interactive experience was a guest favorite as each person was able to grab a glass, add a selection of fruit and herbs, and then muddle their own mixture. After that, the bartender took over and stirred in some select tequila and other special mixes to complete the concoctions. By this time, the Signature Dessert Station was waiting for some people with a sweet tooth to come its way. Accompanied by a coffee area, the dessert bar featured a selection of specially prepared desserts. A Photo Booth by Shutterbooth was right around the corner to take fun snaps of guests during their sugar rush. Aptly placed next to this area was Ellie’s Table and a presentation of our signature pastry, the Kouign Amann. We are so happy to have had such a great turn out to this Taste of Jays. We’d like to thank Jack Roemer from Crown Five Lighting, Tim Coy from California DJs, Chris from Soundwave Productions, and M Events for their talented contributions to this event. And another big thank you to Nicole Solis for the charming hand-written signs that labeled each area.
We cannot wait until we get to do this all again! Cheers!
