The Loft on Pine Hosts its First Wedding

The Loft on Pine has finally finished a long, restorative process that has brought the century-old building back into its former splendor. The venue can now boast that it has hosted its first wedding--and what a glorious occasion it was! Justine Dahlen and Goodwin Deng had the pleasure of being the first couple ever married at The Loft on Pine. Their celebration was not only visually-stunning; it perfectly matched their personalities.

The style of the wedding couldn’t have been in better synchronicity with a setting than it was at The Loft. The venue’s old honey oak wood and aged brick walls acted as a great eclectic, modern background to the bride and groom’s personal style. The vintage, trendy aspect of the venue truly reflected the couple and was further echoed in their fashion, detail, and design choices.

Mr. and Mrs. Deng brought Jay’s Catering onboard to cater their special day, which was an opportunity that we jumped at. Not only was the couple incredibly sweet and fun to work with, but serving The Loft’s first event post-restoration was also an honor. One of our brilliant Event Specialists, Patti Robledo made the whole thing happen. Her coordinating, along with the planning services provided by the amazing Love & Splendor turned this wedding into a major success.

As guests arrived, they were welcomed through the first floor before ascending the staircase and finding their seats. The ceremony on the second floor felt otherworldly and ethereal because of the venue’s original, restored mural. The mural features a rising sun, which is painted on a half-moon wall facing the altar. This is one of the most breathtaking details of the venue and, in tandem with tailored up lighting, really hits the right note: a romantic, simple way to tell a love story.

Cocktail hour followed directly after the ceremony. It was held back on the first floor around The Loft's horseshoe-shaped, built-in bar. While guests enjoyed their drinks, our staff quickly executed a changeover, metamorphosing the ceremony space into a grand reception area.

During the changeover, we served three choices of tray-passed hors d’ouerves: Mini Filet & Wild Mushroom Wellingtons served with Bearnaise sauce, Chicken Satay served with Peanut sauce, and Glazed Pear with Goat Cheese on Herb-Toasted Baguettes. After the conclusion of the cocktail hour, the party re-ascended to the second tier. We prepared a buffet dinner, which we presented after a preliminary toast. Attendees were satiated by Pear Salad with Romaine and Wild Field Greens, Cabernet Chicken Breast stuffed with Dried Cherries and Brie cheese served with a Cabernet Reduction sauce, Tortellini with Creamy Pesto sauce, Rosemary & Garlic-Roasted New Potatoes, and Baby Asparagus, Squash, and Carrots. We also had a Children's menu of Chicken Breast Tenders, Buttered Corn, Macaroni & Cheese, and Fresh Fruit, which we set up on a charming, mini kid’s buffet table.

As the evening progressed, we arranged a four-tiered, round wedding cake with alternating layers of White Cake with Strawberry Crème Filling and Marble Cake with Chocolate Bavarian Filling. It was absolutely delicious! The Loft on Pine features a lovely stage that acts as a focal point on the second floor. We set the cake up on the stage. Three free-standing, can flood track lights helped to create a sultry mood along with the rest of the up lighting--this fabulously accentuated the cake stand.

After the cake was cut, the party just got livelier and dancing continued late into the evening. The first ever wedding at The Loft on Pine simply floored us. From the small details to the macro-staples that are essential to any flawless event, this wedding scored a perfect 10 on it all.
